Enough with Christmas?
Christmas ads already exhaust you, fair. I can’t promise zero detours, but there’s more inside.
Hi Friends,
December is barely rolling in, and you’re already over Christmas and Christmas ads.
Dodging them from now to New Year’s is basically an extreme sport, but I had to include Uber’s masterpiece. Also, I really need to stop watching father–daughter Christmas ads late at night. Feels like every agency got the same brief this year: make Dome cry, he’s been a dad for twelve months.
And if I just gave you a sugar overdose (you Grinches), enjoy LIAKH’s spot, tearing apart every cliché about diabetes.
We wrap with a very slick Apple film and the Royal Albert Hall rebrand.Have a good read.
Have a good read.
Something else worth your reading: after revisiting A24’s stunt for Marty Supreme with Chalamet, I went down an Instagram rabbit hole and explained why the campaign isn’t just hype.
And in case you missed the fact that we’re on Instagram too, you can keep posted over there.

Uber’s Heartfelt Christmas Ad Arrives
In its first-ever Christmas ad, Uber, in collaboration with Mother, takes a surprising turn towards the emotional. Set to a haunting James Blake cover, the ad explores a father-daughter relationship reflecting on their complicated history as they head home for the holidays. Gone are the usual cheery vibes; this one dives deep into the bittersweet realities of family life, mirroring a trend in ad storytelling this season.

Myths unveiled: Vegetables and Sugar
LIAKH and Spindle have unleashed a trio of heavy-metal-laced micro-films tackling the pesky myths around type 1 diabetes, like ‘Do vegetables have sugar?’ These mini-thrillers star Declan Mason and transform real-life questions into suspenseful answers. Forget the mince pies; it’s the perfect time to send these films to that friend who always asks the same old questions about diabetes.

Royal Albert Hall’s Bold New Rebrand
In a move that screams both modernity and tradition, the Royal Albert Hall has undergone a daring rebrand crafted by Brandpie, alongside its in-house team. This refreshed identity aims to capture the Hall’s rich 150-year heritage while appealing to a more diverse, digital-savvy audience. With a refined logo, a splash of ‘Royal Red’, and typography inspired by Victorian styles, it’s all about enhancing the Hall’s role as a cultural beacon without overshadowing its legendary status.
